6:00am Me and my buddy Neal took my boat out of Newport harbor and went south to the kelp along the coast to kill the Bass. Loaded up with sardines and chovies at the bait barge
and headed to the kelp. When we started fishing it was over cast skies and the bite was slow. The sun started to come out and the bite started to pick up. I was fly lining a sardine
right into the kelp, the water was real clear and a few times I saw bass come out of the kelp and go after my sardine. The bite got so good that me and Neal both hookup at the
same time. Neal had some ghostshrimp he brought and caught two SheepHead off the bottom with that bait. At the end of the day I caught a small halibut off a anchovy. We had
a real good day of fishing.

7:00am Took some of my friends from work out on my boat. We left the launch and started drinking, by the time we picked up Robi and Lance at the public dock
Steve and I were already catching something (a buzz). Stopped at the bait barge and pick up some sardines and anchovies. We went south just a half a mile and
saw kelp all along the coast. I anchored the boat and backed it down on the kelp. A live bait right on top of the kelp, let the bait swim down and that is where the
Bass are. We all had a good time, we did all kinds of things, lost a fishing rod, lost my Black Flys, did some cumming. It was all good except !!!!! (Lance bring your
swim trunks next time.

6:30am My wife and I took our boat out of Newport. We went south for 20 mins. to Dana point, fished there most of the day. We caught bass, barracuda, macks,
and my wife caught some kind of fish I could not ID. I'll look it up and see if I can ID this fish. We headed back to Newport and fished the south side of the harbor
mouth. My wife caught some bottom feeders. All in all it was a good day fishing. On my VHF radio I kept hearing people at the 209 and 14 mile bank catching
yellow tail. I almost went to 14 mile bank. Out on the water all day really beats you up.

7:00pm Just the normal 15 mins. at The Rail. I show up and one guy is fishing The Rail, down at the slot. A guy and his kid was fishing the other
side. I could tell they weren't catching anything. I go to the bridge and first cast I land a small bass. Then another one a little bigger. Then nothing.
The guy down at the slot left, so I moved down to the slot. First cast there and I landed a nice one. Casted into the slot again and caught one more small one.

7:00pm Stopped by The Rail. I just bought some new spring grubs (AppleSeed). Fished for about 15 mins. and caught two small bass. One of them
was real small, about twice the size of the grub. I caught it in the Slot

11:15pm It's been a long time for me fishing the golf course. Neal was going to go but he had something come up. So I went solo kind of late.
I was using my favorite lure for the golf course, hula hopper. The fish were hitting like crazy but missing the lure a lot. I managed to land three.
Only fish for 45 mins. fun stuff I have to do it again soon.

7:15am Early to The Rail and it's high tide. My dog likes it there, every time I have one on he comes running over to me. It's over cast skies and a little windy. Only 15 mins.
but was able to land two small bass. I hooked up one other fish but it came off. I'll call Neal later and see if he wants to go later today.
5:00pm Twice to The Rail in one day, I'm getting back into it. I totally messed up. Just five mins. into it and I hook a nice halibit. I got it all the way in and when I was trying to
get it out of the water it broke off. It looked like it was 20 to 22 inches. Stupid me I go there with old line on my rod, I forget to bring any tackle. Well I'm done for today. The
fishing is getting good, I'll be back.

6:30pm Light santa ana winds. It should be good at The Rail. Water is at medium tide and glassy. I started at the middle light pole. With the wind at my back I
could cast almost all the way across the channel. On the first cast I caught a nine inch bass. How do I know it was nine inches? I used my lanyard tool. There were some
barracuda around. When I would reel up fast they hit my grub. I hooked four of them but broke off. Old 4lbs. test line just couldn't keep them on. Well I stayed 15mins.
and landed one bass. Remember to to get your lanyard today at CheckYourCatch.com
