02:00pm - It's a beautiful day in Socal, me and Marshall to the Huntington Beach jetty. The water is so clear and warm. We dug up some
sand crabs, they are perfect size. While digging up the crabs, I saw two corbina about ten feet from me in a foot of water. I was at the mouth
of the inlet and the tide was going out causing an eddie current. The fish are hanging there waiting for what ever comes by. I would cast up
current and let my bait drift with the current. I was getting a lot of hits, but was only able to land two surf perch. Still a lot of fun.

09:00am - Took my motorhome down to the south end of HB and fished the inlet. I took my sand crab net and dug up some good bait, about
nickel size bait. I was using a carolina rig with two red beads down by the hook, these red beads look like row on the sand crabs. This
makes a good bait. I would cast up current in the inlet and let my line drift with the current. I was getting hits left and right and
managed to land 6 surf perch.

07:00am - 4th of July and took the motor home down to south end of Huntington state beach, got there early but still a line to get in.
It's over cast skies and a little cool. We walked all our stuff down to the beach and just kicked it for awhile. About 9:00am me,
Marshall and Ricky took the sand crab net and shovel down to the water to see if we can dig up some nice bait. Alot of sand crabs
all about 1/4 to 3/8 inch. got about 20 of them and walk over to the wet land inlet. The tide is coming in, so I walk in the inlet
about 50 yards. I take three of the sand crabs put them on my hook, cast all the way to the other side and let the tide current
carry the bait into the inlet. Once it got back to my side I would reel in and cast back out. Well about the fifth time I did that,
BANG reeled in a nice corbina, about 10 inches. I forgot my camera or I would have a picture. I fished for 45mins., caught
a small halibut and another corbina. The sand crabs should get to be perfect size in two or three weeks. Let's go surf fishing.

Nice day, me and Marshall went down to Newport beach 56th street jetty, targeting surf perch. I was going to
walk the surf line casting, but to many people in the water. We went out about 2/3 on the jetty, right where the waves are breaking.
I used a carolina rig with a camo sand worm and a small red bead. I made a few cast on the North side and no go. I tried the other
side and was getting hits right away, I land a surf perch the second cast. A few cast later another one then a corbina and then
three more surf perch. 45 mins and I had a blast, everyones watching, thinking you won't catch anything. Marshall found some
fish meat he put on a hook and caught 8 crab out of the rocks.

Rick's fishing entry - Hitting The Rail on the way to work, tide is high, moving slow, no wind. I started down at the bridge and worked my way to the East end and not a single hit.
09:15pm -
I looked down the slot and see a lot of bait fish, so I cast down the slot. Good cast, right to the end and in the middle, bouncing my bait on the bottom about half way
through the slot my bait gets sucked in hard, I set the hook and land a nice 14 inch bass, I took a bad picture of it, but you can still see the size. Then I moved
to light pole #1 and caught a 10 inch bass. Well, off to work.

01:30pm - My wife and kids are at Knotts berry farm, I cut the lawn and other yard work, so now I'll do some lazy fishing at The Rail (soak some salted anchovies).
Low tide, light wind, I'm soaking two anchovies. I soaked them for 25mins. just kicking it in my truck playing my guitar, then one of my poles bent over, I jumped out
of my truck, set the hook and landed a small bass. I reeled the other pole in and bailed out.

03:30pm - To The Rail to try to get another big halibut, low tide and over cast. Neals got some bait soaking and casting a grub. I'm just
soaking three salted anchovies. Neal thinks he got some hits on the grub, and nothing on the anchovies. About 30 mins into it, as
I'm talking with Neal, he says RICK YOUR POLE!!! I look at my pole and it's almost going over the rail, I quickly grag it and set the hook.
It's fighting nice, kinda like a halibut but it's not. It's a BIG sand bass, nice fish. Well not much for 15mins after that, so out of here.
We fished the East end.

04:30pm - Ron, two of his boys, Neal and myself, The Rail fishing with grubs and SALTED anchovies, tring to net some bait, but not much bait
in the water. Neal was the first to hook up after I kicked his pole, I mean my pole. He caught an almost legal halibut (18 inchs). Then I caught two
stringrays. Now that was way lame. Then Ron's son went to check his halibut rig he had soaking and reeled up on the line and bang,
pole bent over. This fish is running, could be a batray or maybe a halibut. Everyone there is getting all pumped up, two guys on bikes
are stopping to check it out, across the bay at the Elks club they are all checking it out. The fish shows it's color and a nice halibut
Ok now getting the thing out of the water. It's low tide, thats about 12 feet down, we have a net but it's only 5 foot long. So Ron's son
is leaning over the side while Ron holds his legs and he nets this monster. We fished about 3 hours on the East end.
